SAP takes the security of its vast product portfolio very seriously and thus releases security fixes for vulnerabilities reported by external researchers and their customers every second Tuesday of the month.

SAP Note 3687285 was released on 10.02.2026 and deals with "[CVE-2026-23685] Insecure Deserialization vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver (JMS service)" within Java. We advice you to follow the instructions, to resolve insecure deserialization with a medium potential for exploitation in component BC-JAS-JMS.

According to SAP Security Advisory team a workaround does not exist. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver (JMS service) allows an authenticated administrator with local access to submit specially crafted serialized content that is processed by the application, potentially resulting in a denial of service due to unintended behavior during internal logic execution.

Solution

The vulnerable jackson-databind library has been updated to a secure version to prevent insecure deserialization during JSON processing.
