On 08.07.2025 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within Java.

SAP Note 3610892 addresses "[CVE-2025-42966] Insecure Deserialization vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver (XML Data Archiving Service)" to prevent insecure deserialization with a hot news risk for exploitation.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance, the team suggests.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver (XML Data Archiving Service) contains an insecure Java deserialization vulnerability that can be exploited by an authenticated attacker, leading to complete compromise of the application’s runtime environment.

Solution

The application now includes enhanced deserialization logic to prevent the execution of untrusted Java objects.

Affected System

SAP Netweaver Application Server Java is part of the SAP NetWeaver Application Platform. It provides the complete infrastructure for deploying and running Java applications.
