SAP Note 3610892 addresses "[CVE-2025-42966] Insecure Deserialization vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver (XML Data Archiving Service)" to prevent insecure deserialization with a hot news risk for exploitation.
A workaround does exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance, the team suggests.
Risk specification
This note has been re-released with updated 'Solution' and 'Workaround' information. SAP NetWeaver (XML Data Archiving Service) allows an authenticated attacker to exploit insecure Java deserialization, resulting in full compromise of the application’s runtime environment.Solution
The application now enhances deserialization logic to prevent execution of untrusted Java objects. Circumstances exist that prevent the timely installation of a patch provided by the manufacturer. In such cases, you may consider applying the suggested workaround as a temporary or compensating mitigation: "As workaround set the startup filters for application sap.com/tc~TechSrv~XML_DAS to disable it.
