Advisory

A note with CVSS 3.3 for component BC-JAS-SEC-UME was released by SAP on 09.06.2026. The correction/advisory 3726899 was described with "3726899 - [CVE-2025-68161] Potential vulnerability in Apache Log4j library used by SAP NetWeaver AS Java" and affects the system type Java.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.

The vulnerability addressed is weak security function within Java.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver AS Java uses an Apache Log4j Core Socket Appender version affected by CVE-2025-68161, which may allow a man-in-the-middle attacker to read or redirect log data in transit when the SocketAppender with TLS-enabled remote logging is in use, resulting in unauthorized disclosure or redirection of log data.

Solution

The Apache Log4j Core library has been upgraded to a version that properly implements TLS hostname verification.

SAP Netweaver Application Server Java is part of the SAP NetWeaver Application Platform. It provides the complete infrastructure for deploying and running Java applications.
