On 08.04.2025 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within BI/BO platform.
SAP Note 3565751 addresses "[CVE-2025-31332] Insecure File permissions vulnerability in SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform" to prevent insecure file operations with a medium risk for exploitation.
A workaround does exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance, the team suggests.
Risk specification
SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform contains a vulnerability that allows an authenticated attacker with local system access to modify files. This could lead to operational disruptions or service downtime, resulting in a high impact on the system's integrity and availability.Solution
The issue has been resolved by restricting file access exclusively to the owner's group. Circumstances exist that prevent the timely installation of a patch provided by the manufacturer. In such cases, you may consider applying the suggested workaround as a temporary or compensating mitigation: "Set folder and file permissions to the preferred production environment standards (umask 027)), ensuring that write permissions are retained for files that require them.".
