A note with CVSS 8.0 for component BI-BIP-CMC was released by SAP on 08.07.2025. The correction/advisory 3565279 was described with "[CVE-2024-53677] Insecure File Operations vulnerability in SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence Platform (CMC)" and affects the system type BI/BO platform.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.

The vulnerability addressed is insecure file operations within BI/BO platform.

Risk specification

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform allows an authenticated administrator to upload malicious files via the Struts-based FileUpload mechanism in the Central Management Console (CMC), potentially leading to remote code execution on the underlying system.

Solution

The application now leverages an updated and secure version of Apache Struts to eliminate the vulnerable file upload mechanism.

SAP BI is a module meant for producing business insights and expands its power in combination with HANA DB and also exists as BW/4 HANA. Due to processing sensitive business data, the Data security is of utmost importance.
