Advisory

On 08.09.2026 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within Kernel.

SAP Note 3757002 addresses "[CVE-2026-66767] Memory Corruption vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform" to prevent memory corruption vulnerability with a high risk for exploitation.

A workaround does exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as none, the team suggests.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform allow an unauthenticated user to send a specially crafted packet that causes a previously buffered user request to be processed again, potentially allowing the attacker to hijack another user's session under specific timing conditions. Successful exploitation could have a high impact on the confidentiality and integrity of the application, with a low impact on availability.

Solution

With this correction, the handling of compressed user data received over an internet protocol has been enhanced. Questions and answers are collected in SAP Note 3777070 "FAQ Note for SAP Security Note 3757002". Apply the Kernel patch specified in the "Support Packages & Patches" section of this SAP Note. All subsequent Kernel patch levels also include the correction. Only the latest Kernel patch level is available for download, which contains all previously delivered corrections. Customers can therefore install the latest available Kernel patch level to apply this correction. The correction is delivered with the following kernel archives: hotfix - file dw\.sar SP Stack Kernel - files SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR Follow the SAP recommendations on how to select and install the Kernel patch: Apply the latest SP Stack Kernel if it includes the correction (PL of correction is less than or equal to the PL of the latest SP Stack Kernel). For the list of current SP Stack Kernels, see SAP Note 2083594 (SAP Kernel Versions and SAP Kernel Patch Levels). Otherwise, the next SP Stack Kernel will include the correction. Apply the hotfix only if you require the correction on short notice. The correction may not be available for kernel releases that are no longer maintained. Please upgrade to the corresponding downward compatible kernel (DCK), see SAP Note 2083594 (SAP Kernel Versions and SAP Kernel Patch Levels). Review the regression note for the target patch level before installing the patch. For details, see SAP Note 1802333 (Finding information about regressions in the SAP kernel). For instructions on how to download and install kernel patches, see SAP Note 19466 (Downloading SAP kernel patches). For additional SAP recommendations and best practices, refer to the document Update Strategy for the Kernel of the Application Server ABAP in On Premise Landscapes.  Circumstances exist that prevent the timely installation of a patch provided by the manufacturer. In such cases, you may consider applying the suggested workaround as a temporary or compensating mitigation: "None".
