Advisory

On 08.09.2026 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within Content Server / Kernel / Web Dispatcher.

SAP Note 3750721 addresses "[CVE-2026-76968] Information Disclosure vulnerability in SAP Web Dispatcher, Internet Communication Manager and SAP Content Server" to prevent information disclosure vulnerability with a medium risk for exploitation.

A workaround does exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as none, the team suggests.

Risk specification

SAP Web Dispatcher, Internet Communication Manager and SAP Content Server allow an authenticated low-privileged attacker to access certain administrative functionality or interfaces and obtain sensitive information about the system state, resulting in information disclosure. The disclosed information could potentially be used to facilitate further attacks. This vulnerability has a high impact on the confidentiality of the application, with no impact on integrity or availability.

Solution

SAP Web Dispatcher and Internet Communication Manager (ICM) The vulnerability was fixed by removing sensitive data from the output. This correction is initially delivered with the kernel patch level listed in the "Support Packages & Patches" section of this SAP Note. All subsequent kernel patch levels also contain the correction. Keep in mind that only the latest kernel patch level is available for download. However, it contains all previously delivered corrections. As a result, you can download and install the latest available kernel patch at any time to implement this correction. This correction is delivered with the following kernel archives: SAPWEBDISP.SAR Hotfix file dw.sar SP Stack Kernel - files SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR Use SAPWEBDISP.SAR to patch standalone SAP Web Dispatcher and follow SAP Note 908097. It contains details about the recommended SAP Web Dispatcher version and how to download and install the patch. See SAP Note 3115889 about the difference between standalone and embedded deployment of SAP Web Dispatcher. Use dw.sar or SAPEXE.SAR and SAPEXEDB.SAR to patch Internet Communication Manager (ICM) and embedded SAP Web Dispatcher. Follow the SAP recommendations on how to patch the SAP kernel: Apply the latest SP Stack Kernel if it contains the correction (PL of correction is smaller or equal to the PL of the latest SP Stack Kernel). For the list of current SP Stack Kernels, see SAP Note 2083594 (SAP Kernel Versions and SAP Kernel Patch Levels). Otherwise, the next SP Stack Kernel will deliver the correction. Apply the hotfix only if you require the correction on short notice. The correction may not be available for kernel releases that are out of maintenance. Please upgrade to the corresponding downward compatible kernel (DCK), see SAP Note 2083594 (SAP Kernel Versions and SAP Kernel Patch Levels). Review the regression note for the target patch level before installing the patch. For details, see SAP Note 1802333 (Finding information about regressions in the SAP kernel). For instructions on how to download and install kernel patches, see SAP Note 19466 (Downloading SAP kernel patches) The paper Update Strategy for the Kernel of the Application Server ABAP in On Premise Landscapes provides detailed information on the SAP recommendations. SAP Content Server This correction is initially delivered with the patch level listed in the "Support Packages & Patches" section of this SAP Note. All higher patch levels also contain the correction. This correction is delivered with the SAPCS.SAR archive. Follow the SAP recommendations on how to select and install the patch. We generally recommend using the SAP Content Server with the most current patch level. The update is done simply by exchanging the executables. There is no automated update procedure. (1) Download the SAP Content Server SAR archive: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/softwarecenter -> Enter "SAP Content Server" into the search filed. -> Select the desired version from the list -> Select your operating system -> Ensure to sort by "Change Date" in "Descending" order -> Download the SAR archive of the latest SP On Unix-like operating systems: (2) Unpack the archive into the executable directory, typically /sapmnt//exe/uc/ (3) Then restart the SAP Content Server by executing the following commands as user adm: sapcontrol -nr -function Stop cleanipc remove sapcontrol -nr -function RestartService sapcontrol -nr -function Start On Windows: (2) Open the Windows Services Manager and find the service related to your SAP Content Server installation named "SAP" and Stop the service. (3) Unpack the archive into the executable directory, typically :\usr\sap\\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 (4) Go back to the Windows Services Manager and start the service again.  Circumstances exist that prevent the timely installation of a patch provided by the manufacturer. In such cases, you may consider applying the suggested workaround as a temporary or compensating mitigation: "Please assess the workaround applicability for your SAP landscape prior to implementation. Note that this workaround is a temporary fix and is not a permanent solution. SAP strongly recommends you apply the corrections referenced in the security note, which can be done in lieu of the workaround or after the workaround is implemented. As a workaround disable the public part of the SAP Web Dispatcher / Internet Communication Manager administrator user interface. That is anyway recommended by SAP Notes 3752223, 2260323 and 870127. (1) Remove all ALLOWPUB=TRUE for parameter icm/HTTP/admin_<x>. (2) If version 7.22, 7.53 or 7.54 is used: Add ALLOWPUB=FALSE to all icm/HTTP/admin_<x> parameters in the default and instance profiles. (3) If version 7.22, 7.53 or 7.54 is used: If icm/HTTP/admin_0 is not explicitly set, set icm/HTTP/admin_0 = PREFIX=/sap/admin,DOCROOT=$(DIR_DATA)$(DIR_SEP)icmandir/admin,AUTHFILE=$(icm/authfile),ALLOWPUB=FALSE (4) Restart SAP Web Dispatcher or the application server. There is no workaround available for the SAP Content server.".
