Advisory

A note with CVSS 9.0 for component BC-JAS-WEB was released by SAP on 09.06.2026. The correction/advisory 3727078 was described with "3727078 - [CVE-2026-40128] Directory Traversal vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (Web Container)" and affects the system type Java.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process.

The vulnerability addressed is directory traversal (read/write) within Java.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (Web Container) allows an unauthenticated attacker to send a specially crafted HTTP logon request that manipulates file inclusion parameters, enabling path traversal and resulting in unauthorized access to or modification of sensitive system data, or service disruption.

Solution

The Web Container has been updated to properly prevent path traversal outside the intended context.

SAP Netweaver Application Server Java is part of the SAP NetWeaver Application Platform. It provides the complete infrastructure for deploying and running Java applications.
