Advisory
A note with CVSS 0.0 for component CEC-SCC-PLA-PL was released by SAP on 11.08.2026. The correction/advisory 3770868 was described with "3770868 - [CVE-2026-34480] Improper Output Encoding Vulnerability in SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP Data Hub (Apache Log4j Core)" and affects the system type SAP Commerce Cloud.
A workaround exists, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process.
The vulnerability addressed is incorrect logging functionality within SAP Commerce Cloud.
Risk specification
SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP Data Hub bundle a version of Apache Log4j that does not properly encode certain characters in structured log output, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to submit crafted input that produces malformed log records, resulting in potential log injection or suppression of audit trail entries.
Solution
SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP Data Hub have been updated to a non-vulnerable version of the Apache Log4j Core library, which introduces proper sanitization in the affected component. Although an alternative solution exists, it is advisable to apply the correction! This is the workaround, which was suggested by the SAP security experts: "For deployments where the non-default log output format (XML) has been manually enabled and an immediate patch cannot be applied, replacing it with an alternative layout (such as PatternLayout) in the logging configuration will eliminate the exposure.".
