SAP takes the security of its vast product portfolio very seriously and thus releases security fixes for vulnerabilities reported by external researchers and their customers every second Tuesday of the month.

SAP Note 3643865 was released on 09.09.2025 and deals with "[CVE-2025-42922] Insecure File Operations vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver AS Java (Deploy Web Service)" within Java. We advice you to follow the instructions, to resolve missing authentication check with a hot news potential for exploitation in component BC-JAS-DPL.

According to SAP Security Advisory team a workaround exists. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver AS Java contains a web service flaw that lets authenticated attackers upload and execute arbitrary files, enabling full system compromise.

Solution

SAP NetWeaver AS Java now limits the vulnerable web service to administrative users, preventing arbitrary file uploads by non-administrative accounts.  Alternativly, the consulting team has proposed the following: "As a workaround, the vulnerable service com.sap.engine.services.dc.wsgate can be deactivated.". The suggestion may be considered, as a workaround or compensating mitigation. We recommend installing/applying the correction wherever possible and as soon as possible.
