Advisory

A note with CVSS 4.1 for component BC-CST-IC was released by SAP on 12.08.2025. The correction/advisory 3601480 was described with "[CVE-2025-42935] Information Disclosure vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP and ABAP Platform(Internet Communication Manager)" and affects the system type Kernel.

A workaround exists, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process.

The vulnerability addressed is information disclosure within Kernel.

Information disclosure is when an application fails to properly protect sensitive and confidential information from parties that are not supposed to have access to the subject matter in normal circumstances.
Carefully review every information disclosure vulnerablity in regards to disclosure obligations post-GDPR for ‘Personal data’ under the Data Protection Act 2018.

Risk specification

In SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform, the Internet Communication Manager (ICM) allows an authenticated attacker with administrative privileges and local access to HTTP logs to extract sensitive information from request and response headers when specific logging parameters are enabled, leading to unauthorized data exposure.

Solution

The application now masks sensitive tokens in HTTP log files by default when logging is enabled. Although an alternative solution exists, it is advisable to apply the correction! This is the workaround, which was suggested by the SAP security experts: "Avoid using LOGFORMAT configurations like SAPSMD2, SAPWEBDISP2, or %{[?]}i as a temporary workaround.".
